A simple, inexpensive, likely robust, AAA powdered, accurate, compact GPS unit.
Can be bar mounted.

I know you've stated its features but what can I actually do with it? It doesn't look like it'd be much good for navigating with and it doesn't appear that you can add maps to it.

My apologies; the internet is not the best for reading context.

To be honest I haven't investigated too much other than looking at the Garmin page.
The price, robust nature, and ability to make use of three GPS systems (American, Russian, and European) made it look of interest.
I know the etrex is of interest due to its simplicity. This has the option for off the bike use.
