Gravel disc wheel upgrade?

Post by Spandex »

Hi everyone, new on here!

I have just become the proud owner of a Charge Plug Ti and its just wonderful on and off road, I am loving how versatile it is. Currently I am running Schwalbe G-One's tubeless and they are working a treat - they roll so well that the bike has totally replaced my road bike.

I'd like to get a second set of wheels and I am after some recommendations. At first I had thought about going for a 650b wheelset and running big volume tyres (47's?) for gravel and using my current wheelset with slick road tyres. Now I am thinking that maybe another set of 700c would be fine. Anyone running 650b in their 700c gravel/bikepacking bike?

I want a reasonably lightweight set of wheels that will take some abuse. My budget is £400 or under.

So far I have looked at Hunt 4season Gravel disc, Hope 20FIVE and Stans Iron Cross... Thanks!

Nothing exotic or lightweight, just some cheap and cheerful Superstar hubs with Pacenti rims.
