Highland Trail Sweepstake - ENTRIES CLOSED
While not normally a gambler (unless it's with personal safety), I thought I'd hold a Highland Trail Sweepstake - here's how it's going to work.
1/ Paypal £10 as a gift to stuart@bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk
2/ You will be allocated a number in accordance with when you entered, ie third person to enter gets number three. This number will tally with the same number on the Highland Trail start list. You will be told your number as soon as all places have gone or by May 21st, whichever comes first ... There is no number 1 because that's Mike's and no number 29.
3/ If your rider is the first home having completed the entire route and in full accordance with the Self-supported guidelines - you win.
What do you win? Well, the pot will be split down the middle, you take half and the other half goes to a good cause. A tenner may seem like a lot but we're not messing about with 50p each way and besides, if all places get filled you stand a chance of winning £255 to waste however you see fit.
Rules
1/ Should your rider not turn up at the start - tough, that's the luck of the draw.
2/ If no one has the winning rider, the prize will go to down the line to 2nd - 3rd - 4th etc until we have a winner.
3/ Have as many goes as you like but seperate entries only.
Bear Bones Bookies now open for business.

Oh good grief. No pressure then.
Apologies if you end up with me but at least you end up donating to a good cause.

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
Presumably htr riders can't enter?
Will you post a list of who has been allocated which rider so I know who I'll be disappointing?

£255? Aren't you including the ladies and the tandem, because Lee at least has a good chance of smashing it?
My money is on Neil Beltchenko if he can adapt to the Scottish climate.

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
No, simply because the list for women starts again at 1. If there are enough takers, I could continue the list with the women. Not included the tandem because I'm not 100% certain Shona and Rich are taking it this year.Aren't you including the ladies and the tandem, because Lee at least has a good chance of smashing it?

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
I'm in.
Not really because I think I'll win owt but because it'll make the event more interesting to follow and raise a bit of cash for a good cause at the same time.
That being said, if I could win too then that'd be grand!

Sorry for the ignorance but #29, was that Mikes original race number for 2017?

I'm not sure Simon. I just saw that it was blank, so ignored it.Sorry for the ignorance but #29, was that Mikes original race number for 2017?

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
Yes #29 was Mike's original number. So that is why it is being kept blank when Alan had a slight re-shuffle of the numbers a few weeks back.

Yep- we're taking the tandem- it's an experiment to see if we can break another pair of shoes

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
I've just entered. I may give it a couple of days and enter again too.

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
I suggest knobbling all the other bikes so that they fail completely a couple of days in.

Ditto #14, although I'll be 'awarded' to the 13th purchaser so I'm sure that's a sign in itself.whitestone wrote:To whoever gets #21, apologies in advance

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
Hang on a fair few of the folk on the list on Highlandtrail.net won't make it to the start line as Alan is looking for 40-50 max. Aren't you better using the list on trackleaders?
I can categorically say that if you pick my number you won't win.....

Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
If it's any consolation, I started the Highland Trail in 2014 with man flu (flv from here commented "you look like sh!t") and yet finished the ride.
Re: Highland Trail Sweepstake
I'm in, looking forward to it now
