Birzman tools

Post by Anthony »

www.birzman.co.uk

Only just came across these on crc and notice they appear to be a new venture.

Quite possibly some of the nicest pieces of tool design I have seen. (The speil on the website makes you want to hurl mind)

Any1 used one and can vouch for quality?

They look good and they have Peaty endorsing them. Too expensive for me though.

founder Lawrence Kuo leads his 15 strong design team from the front from their Apple Computeresque HQ in the Taiwanese countryside. Surrounded by nature and beauty the Birzman Design team work in specially set aside break-out areas to brainstorm new products and designs, always focussing on delivering product that enables cyclists to fix and maintain their bikes effortlessly.

Surely there are only so many ways you can arrange a bunch of Allen keys and a chain splitter? :?

Oh Ian how silly. This is a forum for people who can deliberate for hours over what sort of string to use for guys

Hey Mike, glad to know its doing well. I look forward to hearing how my framebag does on its first trip out!

The good thing about Birzman is that they do one with exactly the right tools for me. Who uses 10mm spanners anyway, and don't get me started on bloody chain hooks!

Of course :)
I was remarking on birzman's apparent need for "special breakout areas to brainstorm new ideas" of something that ought to be fairly straight forward. If it works for them, then I suppose that's great, but most of my good ideas come while actually out on my bike using my kit ;)

Your point about it having the right tools for you is interesting though. Why don't they design a configurable multi-tool that allowed you to drop the bits you don't need or use? That would be neat.

That's an interesting concept actually - a modular multi-tool which is customisable to suit you needs.

Wouldn't even necessarily even be that difficult to achieve either.

I already do that, I just replace the leaves I don't need with washers instead (normally screwdrivers).

I thought Ray posted a neat solution to the lightweight and modular trail tool previously..... cheap as chips solution too.

Ray, how long were you in your 'breakout' space with your skinny latte to come up with that?? :)

Yep. That'll do it!

No need to make it any more complicated than that really is there?

I posted this under "Weight loss for weight weenies". It was a result of the tool falling apart and my total incompetence/frustration at trying to put it back together in the correct order! I still use it like that now and have encountered no problems in using it this way.
