A question, primarily aimed at Stu but if anyone else knows ...

Glyndwr's Way to the NE of Llanbrynmair is shown as a BW on the maps when up on the ridge of Cerrig y Tan but becomes a footpath lower down. Does the BW stop or has the footpath been upgraded to BW status or do you head down/up the access track for the farm at Cwm Carnedd Uchaf (which is slightly higher than where the BW is shown to end)? It does become a footpath Bob but chances are you'll be walking some of that, so it won't matter

That whole area is a mis-mash of tracks and paths ... and trackless / pathless bits. My best advice would be to crack on as the chances of anyone being 'funny' are very slim. The only place to be careful in that vacinity is at SH 910052 Caeau-gleison ... who dispute a RoW through their yard.

could I also ask what the state of play up on Mynydd y Cemmaes is please? West side looks OK - tracks and whatnot - but east side (up) looks hard work eg up from Nant-hir. The Esgair Ddu bogfest looks quite amusing though!

While Stu's (thank you) fielding lots of "what's this like" questions could I also ask what the state of play up on Mynydd y Cemmaes is please? West side looks OK - tracks and whatnot - but east side (up) looks hard work eg up from Nant-hir. The Esgair Ddu bogfest looks quite amusing though!

I'd try and gain the ridge further south if approaching from the east side, maybe through Pentre-celyn, then make use of the turbine access roads.

Hi folks, first post on here and first Winter Event this coming weekend. I spoke to quite a few people off here at last year's WRT; I did the weekend with my elderly (68) dad - the slightly eccentric chap who won the Official Heaviest Bike weigh-in (83lbs if I remember correctly!!). He's doing the Winter Event with me as well and hopefully I've managed to get him to get rid of some of the weight (not convinced though). At least the weather forecast looks better than the WRT weather was...

Hot poggies fitted, new winter boots fitted with SPD's, tent, winter airbed and 2 quilts packed.
Gonna have to take the wingnut backpack as well for extra layers and down jacket given the forecast.

See some of you at the Star around 8.30pm tomorrow if the roads are open

His route looked more interesting than mine, and I really want a social ride as I normally ride alone. I might take a short detour en route but not enough to spoil the fun.
