Ti mug recommendation.

I'm after a Ti mug, approx. 500ml with a lid. I have a Titan cup which is 400ml at the moment but no lid.

Can anybody recommend one and where to get it.

I've use an Evernew one the same as what you're after. I had to order it from the US, but I see Ultralight Outdoor Gear are now selling them. They're £45 on there. I'm sure I only paid £30-odd for mine including postage, I did have to wait a few weeks and I did struggle to find someone in the US who would post though.

If you want a lid that's a little more robust than a foil one, how about this ?



Inside lip just requires a tiny amount of filing for a perfect fit, drill a small vent hole and Bobs your uncle. Added bonus that you get to drink the contents too

The resin used in carbon construction is similar to that used with glass fibre. As long as the resin isn't subjected to prolonged, intense and direct heat it'll hold up well. I've used the same resin to bond stove parts together before.

A few flames from a meths stove won't hurt it.

ooh good call. Did you work out which diameter you think would be the best compromise for the Hexamid? (sorry for thread hijack)

No, but I've emailed them to find out if they have any stiffness figures for either pole.

All their figures are in imperial, but their 0.450" pole equates to 11.4mm diameter, which is 30% more than the Easton Nanolite I currently have (8.74mm or 0.344"). The zpacks is 7.7mm or 0.303", so the 0.450" one is nearly 50% more, which means it has to be substantially stiffer without being too bulky to carry. I think the 0.600" would be overkill for a Hexamid, but probably quite good for a Trailstar

Great stuff, let me know what they say when (if) they get back to you. I've been playing around with my Hexamid again today & really pleased with it, apart from that pole (and the pack size. Oh, and an issue with the bug netting zip being too taught with the pole in the right place. Ok, so I'm *quite pleased with it).

Yeah, I found the zpacks pole to be about 3" too long. My custom Easton one is 45".
