wow that Trailstar is tempting, but the thought of trying to pitch the cuben version makes my head hurt :shock:

I don't think there's anything wrong with the cuben version ... just that it won't pitch as 'drum tight' as the Sil' one. Not much cuben stuff will though ;)

I was hoping you'd say "don't waste your money Mark it's rubbish" :-) Do you reckon it's suitable as a full on winter shelter, with a bivy inside?

If that's UK winter then I'd say yes. I reckon it'd be a little fussier to pitch than a sil' version but with a little practice I can't see why it wouldn't be a great shelter. There's a test in this months TGO ... they reckon a Sil' version is better for UK conditions in general but if weight's a concern then the cuben version is good. Think the Sil' one scored 5/5 and the cuben one 4/5.

Thanks for the link. Reading that again reminds me why I didn't order a cuben Trailstar before. I think for winter I'll see how my bivy copes inside the Hexamid (when it finally arrives)
