A bit embarrassing, I've used OS maps most of my life, but I can't work out / find out what the hell this symbol is on the online 1:50000 maps from OS?!
Note: Wales only. For woodlands it represents anything that was formally classified as Forestry Commission, but will now include all government owned non-forestry land - which might be wind farms, or restored habitat areas (dry heath, peat bog, grassland and so on)

Looks like the geocache symbol I have on my gps, so not technically on the map but more stored on the gps' memory - I think you can switch them off - ignore that Chew is right, it just looked similar . . . Should really read the thread properly!
