Re: Head Torch on Helmet - any Experience please?
I've been using a Fenix BC21R V2 which takes 18650 batteries. I mount it on the helmet. Very pleased with it. Looks like there is a version 3 now: https://www.fenixlighting.com/products/fenix-bc21r-v3-rechargeable-bike-light The Fenix ALD-08 Helmet Bike Light Holder will apparently work for this lig...

Re: tyre Sealant
Thanks guys.
I just found a bottle of Bontrager TLR Sealant in the basement. Forgotten that I bought it. Its pretty cool in the basement so might still be OK. I will give that a go, though other suggestions still very welcome.

tyre Sealant
Hello, I've been using Orange seal endurance for my tires for some years now and it seems to do the job. Needing a top-up I went online to buy a 16oz bottle, only to find that it is impossible to buy in France anymore. I normally buy it at bike24, but for some reason they do not ship it to France an...

The Lake MX-169 sounds good too. I like a bit of room round my toes. Half sizes too.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
This one is probably only for forum members that live on the continent as it is from Rose Bikes. I have been looking for some SLX Shimano 2x11 cranks and finally found these for 31 euros. Good price and it'll keep the old hardtail going. https://www.rosebikes.fr/shimano-fc-mt600-pedalier-vtt-2x11-36...

Re: Tailfin Aeropack
I'm using a Tubus Vega Evo with a drybag. Superlight and not expensive. Think the rack is 600 grams and can take 25kg. Of course if you have a carbon frame with nowhere to fix the rack you have to look for other options.

Re: 2022 Plans (to go with the 2021 Reflections thread)
I try to do one, for me, long ride every year. In 2022 it was "La Gravel Tro Breizh" in Britanny. 1200km mixed riding in about 7 days. Early June with nice sunshine but pretty cold though. In summer I finally managed to ride almost all of "La Grand Traversee de la Creuse". Once w...

Re: what is a bikepacking bike?
I've just been looking for something like this:
29er, flat bar, low gearing (2x compatible), reasonably upright riding position for comfort, 100mm front suspension/rigid fork option. Mounts for rear-rack, mudguards and 3 bottle cages. And can I have a BSA bottom bracket on the side, please.

Re: New hardtail MTB
Hello again, I seem to have been going round in a great big circle in my search for a hardtail. I am now back at Smokestone's Mr Harry's Flatmate, due to my preference for non-slack 2x bike setups. I realised that 1x was big now but had no idea 2x was near mission impossible. Are you all riding 1x??...

Re: New hardtail MTB
Thanks a lot for all the answers, lots to think about. I will look up the lauf forks and the procaliber, although I have always avoided carbon. Issues around PF30 bottom brackets and the ease of changing threaded ones. Maybe that is not an issue anymore. I will also give Shand a call. I had a look a...

New hardtail MTB
Hello all, I am looking for some "new bike" advice. I attended "Gravel Tro Breizh" in northern France about a month ago, a 1260km event with a mix of gravel, MTB and road riding. Took me about 7 days and beat me up pretty good. So I have been wondering how to make my longer rides...

Lube - not for chain
Hello all, What kind of lube are people using for dérailleurs when out on a trip. Do you use your chain lube? I've just come back from a 6 day trip and I had a fair amount of trouble with the rear dérailleur due to water, dust, mud, loads of high grass etc. I'd brought a small bottle of oil but it s...

Thanks for all the replies. Very helpful. I have managed to find a Cube hardtail that seems to be pretty much spot on, - well on paper anyway. It was in stock as well, so will see when it gets here.

New bike
Hello, I am having a bit of a problem finding a MTB for my partner. We live to far away from anywhere with a good selection of bikes to try out, so I am looking online. She is 5 foot/153cm with an inner leg measurement of 72cm. There don't seem to be many MTBs around for her size, which i am guessin...
