Re: Get yourself seen
Partially spurred on by this thread I've been looking at USB rechargeable rear lights - the small, silicone strap type. I'm surprised at the low run times though. Any recommendations for something that could be relied on for a full nights riding? I've found a big difference in run-times between &qu...

Just a suggestion! Litter creates litter, I can't abide it and try to pick up something every time I cycle. People often drop litter based on the excuse that there is already litter there. The other day someone had parked there car in a field entrance.... to enjoy the view and threw out all there Mc...

Bought the Lezyne HV Micro You know that bit where you screw the pump onto the valve, you'll love it when you unscrew it and it takes the valve core with it. Have look at this https://support.lezyne.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005035134-How-the-ABS-Flip-Chuck-ABS-1-Pro-and-ABS-Flex-Hose-Function The p...

Re: Rear 'battery' powered lights with the longest run time?
Went out a bit late last night to exercise the dog. Stopped to turn on rear light. I found I had 4 rear lights on the bike! The extra bright retro light, some cateye light which was on the bike when I bought it, both on the seat post. One of those R2 type cheapos on the rear rack and fourth of the s...

I suspect they will say unsuitable for a rack, just to cover themselves. There would probably have been eyelets if they considered it suitable.musomaniac wrote:i've just emailed giant , regarding the d-post collar , and a suitable rack to fit my bike if they have one , will get back when i receive a reply

Re: Pump recommendations please
Bought the Lezyne HV Micro (with gauge) cheap at tredz. Think it was £33. Used loads of times EXCELLENT. gauge a bit iffy as suddenly jumps to the actual pressure. Left the presta fitting on to avoid loosing it. Made the gas inflators pointless as it works so quickly. Never removes valve ...up to no...

Re: Rear 'battery' powered lights with the longest run time?
In the dark on unlit roads a car driver should have no difficulty seeing you in his headlights. You often here the view from rural drivers that you can drive faster at night because you can see cars headlights coming from opposite direction before you go round a corner. As cyclists are likely to be ...

Re: Trespassers will be persecuted
Yes they do drive on bridleways. What you should have said was they shouldn't drive on bridleways. I have seen a dozen one behind the other doing exactly that. I know of two which are impassible to horse riders, without putting the horse at risk. I don't believe that horse riders ever destroy bridle...

Re: Trespassers will be persecuted
PS green laners are not pain, they destroy bridlepaths to the extent that walkers struggle to use them. Cyclist struggle even more and horse riders cannot use them. That is more than just a pain.

Re: Trespassers will be persecuted
The law, if in acted, may just be for motorised vehicle's. This also maybe used against the off roaders who destroy bridle paths etc. Or it may just used against everyone and target us for the damage we do to footpaths and on private land when we camp. I am not sure why you think they wont use a br...

That's an interesting and yet another excuse for running into cyclist's. Total bollocks, it is just another pathetic excuse for sh1te driving. I have both flashing and non flashing lights, didn't stop a motor cyclists running into me. OR if it ever gets sorted (2.5 years so far) me, filling my boot...

The cheap ones I got of eBay do have a pulse settingbenp1 wrote:Flashing lights are hard to gauge distance against, but they’re good for noticing. A combo of both is best
Flashing bright ones are even harder to gauge, although I do like lights that pulse (ie bright to dim, rather than bright to off)

Not sure about sacrilege but on a practical side you may end up getting disturbed by folk in the night. Especially during 'shroom season... Fly Agaric can be dehydrated and used all year round! It's what the Sami herders use when corralling there reindeer. I am not suggesting you collect fly agaric...

That's an interesting and yet another excuse for running into cyclist's. Total bollocks, it is just another pathetic excuse ...

Used to have that one, also pretty solid (but I've also broken it off road). They often end up shaking the front off, so you're basically just left off with the mount. Never had that happen. Might put some elastic bands round them just in case. In fact I have some very thin bungee cord that should ...

Okay not an obvious choice. I have an old so called retro light on one bike. An Energizer which attach to the seat post. It takes 4 AA batteries. The bulb has been replaced with a replacement LED bulb which can use anywhere between 2volts and 12 volts (something like that). Whatever voltage you use ...

do you mean use stans in an inner tube?
