I have no idea where I read tomintoul was the highest in Scotland, its the highest in the highlands in eithe case.

It was a great ride and I'd recommend it, I really had some dark moments but it always happens hey!

The vagabonds smart, not sure why but I'm just not that into it, maybe get a frame and build it up would be quite good. The other bike I've seen is the on one space chicken, good price an you can run 29er wheels on it, its undoubtedly light, could easily stick some road wheels on an use it for abit ...

The Cairngorms is bloody tough mate, I'd ease into it with something else. There's lots of climbing and lots of hike-a-bike too, although if you were happy to do it over 3/4 days it is easily manageable. Why don't you do something along the ridgeway, maybe do the double starting at the Turing end? It's quiet not majorly busy and some nice sights to take in, it also itnt far from civilisation should you need a pub, shop or B&B
