Re: Folding Bikes - Experiences..
I sold my folder not long after getting it. It was a 26" wheeled tern joe so not like most folding bikes. I have since learnt about the Japanese Rinko system where you pack a normal bike into a bag for use on trains.

Re: Advice needed.
What's your fitness and cycling background? Part of me would be tempted to just fly out with luggage and buy a bike out there.
Have you started with any vaccines etc you might need?

Re: Advice on early retirement planning
As mentioned above but pension craft and james shack on youtube are both qualified financial advisors with some great videos. I think in truth that i will try to find seasonal/part time work and only semi retire but earlier. I think the social aspects and routine are probably beneficial to keeping h...

I'm definitely into more relaxed content and casual touring.
Path less pedaled is a nice perspective on non competitve cycling.
Ive been watching Allens channel a bit lately.

Any pics of the galaxy? You happy with it? I see loads of old boys just grinding out miles around my village and i always wonder how far/where are they off to? Are they onto something with the old bikes or have they just never tried anything else?

Thanks for the replies.
I was highest bidder on those carradice ones but he wants more than new price for them. I think i like those so might buy new with cyclescheme to save 30% and get a matching bar bag to. Work is a bit tricky at the minute though so will need to wait a few months.

Re: Recommend me a decent stills camera
I bought a used canon m3 off ebay over the christmas break. The M series is now defunct but very happy with it for the compact size, apsc sensor and cheapish lenses, it's certainly great value.

Panniers - big, cheap but not terrible
I'd like to do some leisurely tandem touring with my son. Something with quite a bit volume for just throwing stuff in. Ive read some reviews of the rock bros one where the welded seams have failed leaving you a bit stranded. The ortlieb 70l are nice but i dont think i'll get the use to justify £180...

Re: Christmas presents
My house is generally full of unwanted christmas gifts as I feel bad getting rid of them. I tell people not to bother but they just think im being tight and not wanting to buy for them. I've told my wife to return or re-sell some stuff, she wasn't happy about it but did it. I would like some ortlieb...

I'm the same, although I'm not as hard core as most on here. Most water proof clothing isn't breathable enough so you still get wet from sweat. Generally I either look for massive vents/pitzips or I wear a jumper so i'm warm and wet.

i'm a maxxis / schwalbe fan. I'm on schwalbe marathon mondial as a good allrounder. They'll do gravel but i'd want something with more volume if doing more of it. I think they are used a lot by people doing big tours.

Re: Camera grey imports, would you?
I've just paid 875 for a used e-m1 mk3 and a panasonic/leica 12-60 f2.8-4.0. Nice :-bd I've got my eye on that lens, even more so now both my original kit lenses have bitten the dust  Interested to know how you get on with it. The reviews i watched after I bought it said you can barely tell th...

Re: Camera grey imports, would you?
There's currently a *very* good deal on the OM-1 with the excellent 12-40 mk2 PRO lens currently on the OM System website until 15 November (£1299). A 5 year warrantee is available as an add-on. Am trying hard to resist temptation myself. That is a good deal, It took me a bit of finding as you need...

Re: Camera grey imports, would you?
It's the month of Black friday. I'd expect some deals coming up as It's a luxury item that probably isn't selling too well atm. I've seen a fair few prices dropping recently (not cameras just generally). I buy most things used too. If it's genuinely a 1/3rd off from a reputable supplier I can't see ...

Re: Recommend me a decent stills camera
Bought an olympus em-1 mk3 off ebay last night. Need to find some lenses to go with it. It was a bit of a frustration purchase as im basically sick of looking at specs now. Seems to have some nice features like live composite, starry sky af, hand held high res, phase detect auto focus and also being...

Re: anyone ride a 'bent' ?
Never ridden one but interested to see how you get on if you do go for it. Interested to see how the better aero works with the lower gearing (as they usually have small wheels). Have you got any in mind? I've seen 2 and 3 wheeled versions but I cant see much appeal for a 3 wheel. Maybe just me but ...

Re: Recommend me a decent stills camera
it was Simon who mentioned motorsport photography then I waffled on. Basically you need nice kit to do it well i.e fast auto focus and big lenses which is why I gave up on it. I spend enough time on screens for a living that i'm quite happy for the camera to do all the work. I don't know why I don't...

I took my 40D with 24mm prime lens to fountains abbey last weekend but missed lots of shots because I didn't know how to do HDR on it. Luckily my wife used her phone and managed to get them. Re: 360 cameras anyone?
I don't have one but Lee Johnston posted some footage the other day with one and I didn't like the 'fish eye' distortion. Not sure if thats possible to edit out or inherent in the 360° nature.
