Re: Surly Long Haul Trucker

This one looks suitably 'bikepacky' https://joecruz.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2552.jpg That has sold me tenfold. Done! My old man bought one and has hardly used it, so ill get it off him. We're the same height so the frame size is bang on. Now to tear off that pannier rack, slap on some nice ...

Surly Long Haul Trucker

Hi guys,

I have come into possession of a Surly Long Haul Trucker and really, really want to spec it out for bike packing.

I wondered if you guys would see this as possible? Do people bike pack with tourers?

Cheers all, hope this weather is keeping you well.

Re: Bike Recommendations

Well....depends how much i get for my car eh?!

Around £300 i reckon. Depends how much a bargain gets thrown at me.

Cheers for the suggestion though, the wider range i can look for the better chance i have.

Bike Recommendations

Its got to that point. All i have left is to procure myself a bike, that is up to the task of doing something other than trials. Im looking at a 29er (i think) as im 6ft tall, and think i could get the most out of one. I also like the sound of a big Triangle in the frame, for more space. I've been r...

Re: Tramping it on a recumbent

Yeah ok. From the feedback here and other places around the web im pretty sure this isn't going to be the way to go. Gonna have to be the noob now, could anyone recommend a half decent bike to get myself started on? Im a keen trials biker, but there is no way in hell my 20" Koxx has any other u...

Re: Tramping it on a recumbent

This is what im thinking, i may scrap the idea and go with a tourer. I just have an opportunity to purchase said recumbent cheap and at a great price. I was sold by how comfy they are, and the fact that it comes with panniers. This is a challenge recumbent, not a trike like your better half rides, s...

Tramping it on a recumbent

Hey guys, Clawing myself closer and closer to becoming the ultimate two-wheeled hobo. I have the opportunity to pick up a recumbent bike, she is in great nick and i have rode one before. I found them incredibly comfy and ergonomic, and i will be able to get the bike bags at a reasonable price too. I...

Re: Sleeping Bag Recommendations

You can definitely Bivvi with a down bag, my step-old man uses 2 down bags, after seeing them thats why i wanted them. His pack down to litterally half the size of mine and are both a hell of alot warmer.

Any advice for using a Bivvi with a down bag?

Much appreciated, i shall empty the piggy bank.

Sleeping Bag Recommendations

Afternoon you two wheeled tramps. I am looking to buy a new sleeping bag, preferably a half decent 3 season which compacts nice and small, that will hopefully keep me warm most of the year round in the UK. Don't need any -10 bags or anything! Question is do i go down or synthetic? Looking to spend a...
