Re: Anyone have just a cx bike no mtb?
+1 for the fat tyre CX / gravel bike options. I really love the do-it-all of my CX bike ... UNTIL this year's BB200. it was perfect (ok, pretty good) for everything on bb200 EXCEPT the rocky boulder strewn descents. I deduced it would have been easier to throw it down some of them and walk down afte...

Re: BB200 Route Details
I may well also be hoping for a CX friendly route. my MTB has stubbornly not fixed itself despite sitting on the workstand for a full month now. is a 26 inch full sus (no rear lockout) MTB choice or my trusty CX bike to carry my 95kg & clothes and bags (there's a lot of timber this year). will t...

Re: How's your BB200 prep' going?
so am slightly confused re the format for this year?
... it used to be the BB200, then there was chat of 290k 2 day event (sleep manatory) and now (to me) i think it seems it's back to 200 odd K again (sleep optional) ... just wondering what to prep for so I can steel my nerve appropriately!!

Re: FS Alpkit Hunka or Swaps
I'll give it a go. am a 'broad' 6 foot though. reckon that'll be too small?
in reality it'll not get that much use and if find it too small for general use I can always trade up I suppose.
can do bank transfer or paypal. transfer cheaper I suppose

Re: BB200 rider list
Uh-oh, thanks to some fallers / drop outs I seem to have mysteriously floated up from 11 away to now being just 2nd away from the actual; entry / eligible list. Eek!
time to dust off the old MTB ( in vain hope anyway)
need an excuse to do some training whether I get to go or not!

Re: cycle to work dilemma £850, limited to Halfrauds / Evans
Cheers for the advice guys. I've got British cycling membership as is. forgot about it. wonder if I can add that to the bank holiday savings. 25% off will seal the deal there. the pinnacle does look great in fairness, i'm still finding it hard to look past the Boardman and admittedly i have a soft s...

cycle to work dilemma £850, limited to Halfrauds / Evans
assistance required. Rode last years BB200 on a full sus 26er and am hellbent on a 29er for this years BB200 reliability test,. on C2W I'm limiting myself to £1000 but Halfords do have the Boardman pro 29er for £850 this weekend. http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/mountain-bikes/boardman-mountain...

Re: Scores on the Doors: 2014 Totals
here are my stats, albeit heavily commuting influenced with only BB200 on the MTB and a smattering of training for it. need to reveres this for 2015. Good: I did manage my longest road and mtb rides ever and reclaimed my leading time on the Warblington chase TT (Family time trial challenge). and got...

bugger. that's what I get for not paying attention to the forum. if you do end up with some spares / in stock a pink medium would be good.

Re: Cold feet - hints and tips here
Cheers Ian, I'm not TOO bothered TBH, just thought I'd feedback on doc's report, which does mirrors your experience... though you were cycling for CONSIDERABLY longer!! now to play a string of league squadh games with numb feet should be interesting. My Shimano M087 shoes are now pretty much toast h...

Re: Cold feet - hints and tips here
pins n needles reducing very slowly... I think. Just localised to balls of feet and toes (not little toe). basically everything forward of the straps of my cycling shoes. Doc said allow anything up to 2 months (Cripes) for normal sensation to recover after nerves 'receive an insult' (his words)... l...

Re: Cold feet - hints and tips here
went with roadie bibs and knee high sealskinz and shimano m087's which were generally good but i could have done with another layer for the night. maybe full or 3/4 length bibs think I really did my shoes up too tight and now front of feet and toes are STILL numb / tingly (like pins n needles) 1 wee...

Re: GPS Recomendations
use backcountry navigator on smartphone. Backcountry navigator works on / off road unlike strava which reroutes you the second you plot something off road. like it also allows you to share location though it is not automatic like I've got a galaxy S5 with an Otterbox case. have cable tied the belt c...

Re: 1 week to go...
Tracklogs is reporting 6,532m of ascent and 219.9km. bike hike gives 5,544m ascent Strava gives 4,091m ascent of course it is what it is and has to be cycled but do like to know what's in store. In reality I've done so little directly applicable MTB prep riding that I haven't got an idea of what th...

which tyres for BB200
so I'm only on a full suss 26' and have limited tyre selection to chose from... as a heavy 95K+ with a bagful of BB200 kit who likes to hare downhill I think my original tyre choice won't quite cut it with the wet conditions. have 2 x new continental mountain king 2.2'' which I presumed would be fin...

carpooling from bristol?
anyone interested in carpool from Bristol / GL12 will probs drive via Glos Am aiming at 24-30hrs, ideally sub 24hrs but think 30 hrs more realistic if 5000m of climbing and thigh high bog... am probably planning on driving up the morning get setup, kip in the car for hour or so and start the event.....

eek... that's suggesting approx 5000m climbing in the 200km... (give or take 1000m)
definite rethink of kit list for this now..time to consider bedding in proper for the night rather than nercessarily pushing through..

Re: Dazzler uk maps always on ioffer?
Thanks for all the advice. have decided that for the moment I don't need an expensive garmin... though the dakota 200's are about 100 on fleabay... my samsung s5 is waterproof (apparently) and is wearing an otterbox defender case which doubles as a nifty DIY Bike mount with the otherwise ridiculous ...

Re: Everesting
Out of curiosity (and moderate terror at the thoughts of attempting/completing the BB200) which did you think was tougher the BB200 or everesting? I had secondary motive for everesting as a decent training ride/ fitness test for BB200 if nothing else. I suspect last year's BB200 was tougher than an ...
