Re: 3LW - problems?
Not sure why your LA did that as under the PSMA and now the PSGA they have always had OS map data for free. This is the Isle of Wight Council so who knows how they operate :???: This is the same Authority that commissioned a new chain ferry in 2016 that's cost £7.7 million (as of 2020) and is so un...

Re: What are you listening to now?
I stuck a long post up on here about gigs I'd been to and different albums that were good in different ways etc. Somehow lost it. Anyway just catching up with old posts: I love Fugazi (and Minor Threat). One of the best gigs I’ve ever been to was Fugazi in Wolverhampton’s Wulfrun Hall I went with hi...

Re: Anyone know any decent bivy spots along this stretch (between Ashby Le Zuch + Lieghton B)
I'm not sure you actually wanted route advice, but here goes anyway! I've ridden Banbury to Bosworth area a few times, I used to live in Nuneaton when I was a kid and have friends/family around there. Last time going up there I went via Southam and round the edge of Cov to Bedworth, Nuneaton Mkt Bos...

Re: A 'gravel bike' for mountain bikers.
There's probably an interesting discussion to be had on brand perception / loyalty / favouritism on BB, but we surely don't need yet another introspective topic If you slap a different brand name on it, dangle a mug off the bag, stick that picture on the Radavist website would it be getting a kicki...

Re: Sidetracked Magazine Issue 20 Cover
I'm a subscriber to Sidetracked, I really like it - it's varied and covers some ace stuff. I don't really feel like its a lifestyle magazine as the expeditions and stuff in it look hard. I've flicked through some outdoor mags, like Trail Runner (or Running, dunno which one) and that's a bit mad - yo...

Decathlon's bikepacking bike released soon. Looks like a very competitive price. Looking forward to seeing some reviews https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/touring-9 ... REEN_KHAKI

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.
Some of this stuff is good https://www.coaltowncoffee.co.uk/ and just up the road from me, but at the more expensive end. Not entirely useful to your search for other bean sources, but I'll add a thumbs up for them - the coffee is good, mail order from them has been quick and easy. My family are fr...

Recommended MYOG stove?
What's the best MYOG stove then? Oh right, that's a bit vague isn't it, try again. I've got some "normal" drink cans, some tonic cans, and a couple of Budweiser aluminium bottles somewhere, and I'm looking for some inspiration. I'd like to have a go at making a sideburner for a 600ml mug, ...

Decathlon drop-bar bikepacking bike, complete with USB charging hub. Looks pretty interesting, not sure if the bags come with it too but I'd imagine they'll sell them separately anyway.

Re: Folding bikes
Can't comment on "other" folders but I've had a Brompton for 9 years, it's ace. Does ride differently to a normal bike but I don't notice it really. I use it everyday for commuting, train to Oxford then about 3 or 4 miles to work. But I've also ridden a couple of bridleways around Sheffiel...

Re: RIDE LONDON BIKE SHOW
I went today (collecting my number for the 100 on Sunday). I got a free baseball cap, some stickers and freebie bars/gels. Didn't really see any bargains. They did have that Trek bikepacking bike with the orange racks.
Not sure it's worth a trip unless you're passing or work there TBH!

just a shame that I'd actually ordered a large Ranger frame bag

Re: Pinnacle Ramin 3 plus - anyone got one?
Maybe it is a brand perception thing, Genesis have got a "bikepacking bike" image? Pinnacle is Evans own brand, bit like Boardman and Halfords? Now being objective I know that's daft, pretty sure Jameso knows what he's doing (!), and they've got some interesting bikes in their range. Maybe...

Re: Pinnacle Ramin 3 plus - anyone got one?
Cheers Mark, good to know.
(hello btw, decided it's probably cheaper to buy a new bike than fix my old one so I can finally do the TCW with you!) (and you can have your brakes back, haven't used them)
Think the longitude's are reduced in 18 at the moment but they're still £250 more

To be honest I'm looking for reasons not to get one!
Sounds good, only concern is the EBB, not needed on fact mind, just that I haven't had a bike with one.

Pinnacle Ramin 3 plus - anyone got one?
After reading Stu's review (and the current price drop) I like the look of the ramin 3 Plus https://www.evanscycles.com/pinnacle-ramin-3-plus-2016-mountain-bike-EV264163 . just wondering if Stu's got an update on how it rides, or if anyone has tried one. Looks like a bargain version of the Genesis L...

Re: No more solo overnighters for me
I'm an insulin dependent diabetic, and have done a few solo trips. I've found the key is to make sure your background insulin is sorted, and go low on fast acting - I've gone to bed (well, tent) with blood as high as 20 and woke up with it around 5-6. It's surprising how much it drops after exercise...
