Re: FFS no one needs this.
I've just read up on the whole libel accusation. It's nothing to do with BBB or Facebook. I am author and responsible for my own gob. Just like FB or twatter isn't responsible for someone like Trump. However, for libel action to be taken it has to meet all three criteria- - published. - cause signif...

Re: FFS no one needs this.
*puts up hand nervously* Some of this is me. Well, I am not sure it was, but it was someone. Sorry for stepping on a virtual landmine. I am genuinely nonplussed as to why someone reacts like that to an exchange of viewpoints. As for the legal aspect (of libel) - I am no legal expert, but it just fee...

Re: 10d sleeping bag fabric and a tent...
After the issues with the WildCountry tents I ordered for the outdoor centre, I'm not touching them again unless I have to. 1/3 of them back under warranty, some straight out the bag. The WC attitude was poor.

10d sleeping bag fabric and a tent...
Firstly, any experience of durability of a sleeping bag with 10denier fabric? I'm looking at a good one for my son, concerned about durability though. Secondly, any lightish 2 man tent deals and recommendations? Same son, for use in the hills, on bikes and some general traveling next year. Ideally a...

Re: How might I make this?
Cheers all - the front one is indeed like that bit of wire. Front - Why? Because having watched folk struggle with complex bags and straps, which if not adjusted perfectly seem to either/and rub badly or bounce. Rear - why? Similar observation of bags that wander and move, or heavy seatpost clamp ra...

How might I make this?
I've been using a bar bag on old bar ends for carrying things. However, I've a couple of ideas for racks for bike packing. I expect someone's already done this. Front - an alloy or carbon pair of tubes, that are perhaps about 6" apart, pointing forward like my bar ends, inside the brake levers....

Spey is an ace trip! What weather. Mind, the more it rains, the less you paddle and the more fun it is!

Re: That Old Question - What Jacket
The minimus is excellent, but is uber lightweight. I had one for a few weeks, it breathes surprisingly well, but I still got sweaty on the bike. I am becoming a fan of jackets with more venting again - I keep going back to my ones with pit zips (paramo staff uniform jacket, or my ancient Patagonia)....

http://www.adventure-kit.co.uk/2011/01/montane-terra-xt-trousers/ These Terra XT's continue to be my winter trousers of choice, matched with thermals for camping/proper cold. If I know I am going to wear waterproofs, or canoeing, or warm around camp, I break out the (ancient) Mountain Equipment ultr...

Cheap kit suggestions (bivvy bag and bike bags)
Hello Looking for cheap ways of sorting some gear on the bike. So Cheap frame 'corner' bags is one idea (lots on ebay, but hard to tell size). How to get stuff on handlebars securely. BIG but good seat packs (ebay again...?) I also need a new bivvy bag, my old old old ex army one is goosed. All else...

Re: Hello and cooking Question
Hmmm, a cosy I am making, I just was observing on a couple of cold (subzero) days recently that the heat loss above the windscreen was morer (e.g. inside the pot you could see the water forming and bubbling up below the line of the windscreen, but not above). Maybe I need to make a tighter / higher ...

Hello and cooking Question
Hello all. Faffing with going lighter and some more bivvy trips this year. I have a nice titanium mug and Esbit wing stove. I have an old windbreak I plan to cut down as well. I was wondering if anyone has made their own pot cosy for a mug like this, that I can leave on when cooking (like a jetboil)...
