Re: small tent on jones bars?
The truss on your plus definitely takes up some space which would otherwise have been used for kit, but on the other hand, it also keeps gear off the head tube. You shouldn't have any bother getting a tent under though.

Re: When you're not sure if it's a spoof....
Why does everything have to be a test of physical strength and mental fortitude. Are we not happy unless folk are grimacing through howling wind and rain and sleeping in ditches? THEY EVEN STOPPED TO SLEEP, THE SHAME OF IT! There is certainly an element, not just on here, but in outdoor pursu...

I can't see them selling many of those. My prediction is there will be one and only one batch ever made, quickly reduced in price and deleted from the website, never to be mentioned again. When I tweeted to alpkit after the FMC photo surfaced, they replied, and I quote: 'Nick is speaking to Jeff. It...

Re: New Specialized Bike Packing Bags
I'm normally first in line to sneer at wanky hipsters, but I think this guy seems alright, sure calling oneself Ultra Romance is not to be encouraged, but he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously and for the most part sounds pretty genuine, in the voiceover at least. The hair sniff is hilarious...

Re: Gravel tyre advice
Hi Vorlich - James here , fellow AWOL rider - think we have spoken before on single track ? What's the biggest tyre you've had on the AWOL? - I used to run big apples on my 26 " hardtail - I reckon a set of these in 2" could be really nice on the AWOL Hi James the Triggers were the larges...

Re: Attaching cages to suspension forks
My Jones unicrown forks have a single boss for rack mount, I use this and jubilee clip and it's rock solid. Ugly though. I use an old inner tube to protect the paintwork. I've previously used cable ties with a Salsa anything cage, also solid.

Re: Knoydart Misadventure
It's open to the public, no need to book. Bunks, running water and flushing loo. There is an honesty box with a £3 charge. Or I think £1 to camp out front and use of the loo. Sounds as though its worth the effort just to see that stay there. Personally traveling through unrideable areas is what its...

I'd been debating this very question myself during the push up Mam Barrisdale, and I think it would, at least up that section, but not really for the rest of it.Ian wrote:Maybe with a fat bike things would run a bit better?

Knoydart Misadventure
Didn't accomplish my original plan, not even a wild camp, but might make for interesting reading if you're heading to Knoydart. TL;DR My advice: if you are wanting purely to ride, give it a miss, if you want a bit of an adventure starting with a train/ferry to a remote west coast start point, as par...

a neat option is the 2x up front without a shifter, so you have a bail out in an emergency I can think of a better word than 'neat' to describe this. Have the courage of your convictions man, not this wishy-washy, half way house, worst of both worlds compromise. I'll never be a singlespeeder...

Nice. Only thing I'd suggest I maybe a little clear silicone to seal the exit port, if you could do it internally it'd keep it nice a neat.

Re: intro to clipless?
I prefer SPDs for long rides and flats for more techy/slippy rides on the FS. Depending on the terrain you'll be covering on SPDs, the soles could really make all the difference, if you're pushing up steep/loose stuff at all. I love my Mavic Switchbacks, a really good compromise and a fast drying so...

Re: Getting to grips
Just seen the On-One Mary bars, look like a cheap alternative to Jones bend bars, anyone used them? I've used them in the past, but subsequently bought some Jones Loops, which I prefer. The loops are great for securing gear to and IMO comfier and offer better control. With Ergon grips - really comf...
