Re: Winter Event entries now open.
Water water everywhere, nightmare getting around Shrewsbury at the moment, we should be going via Welshpool/Newtown on Saturday morning, no more rain forecasted so hopefully will be clear by then :YMPRAY: but will check on the morning. We're heading anti clockwise to Trawsfynydd via Mach and Doll, a...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
BAM 2022 - Sam and Nick We managed to follow all the rules apart from the one about a post a month, I spend all my working life on bloody computers so try to avoid them in my social/personal life. January Local ride over to Haughmond Hill and back to Grinshill Hill for the night, slept on some flag ...

Re: BB200 route.
I was struggling to find it, then I realised I was looking on the map at 59 miles, not 59 km.
Everything will be fine
10 years since I last had a go at this according to FB memories, gonna finish it this time!

Re: Fork mounted bag advice…
I'm planning on taking my Cotic FlareMax to the Jenn Ride this year, definitely no room for a seat pack if I want the dropper to work, worth it for that run into Seathwaite from the top of Walna Scar alone. Planning on having my bivvy bag, sleeping "mat" (pathetic blow up thing that is sma...

Re: cycle/hiking shoe suggestions
I've done every WRT (7 I think), a failed attempt at a BB200, a winter bivvy, numerous non-summer rides and a few bivvy trips to the lakes in a pair of Shimano XM9 Boots, and I'll be doing the Jenn Ride in them this year. Don't find they clack when walking around town, occasionally when hiking, but ...

Trevor Rocks, great path, gives me the heebie jeebies in places though, been awhile since I rode it, needs discretion in terms of when to ride it.

Re: What mapping app with sattelite images now?
I use http://www.mapyx.com its not free, but buying the tiles sufficient to plan a ride in a new area doesn't cost a lot, no problem with too many users exceeding the daily limit, and integrates with google earth well so you can see your routes overlaid on satellite view. Like most mapping software ...

Love the fact that there is a picture on there taken by the Alpkit guy, of me taking a picture of the Alpkit guy, in the most defining moment of the WRT ever caught on camera (2010's Monks Trod "bog wading" was unfortunately not caught on camera) https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7086/7157883...

We're heading for Rhayader for Saturday tea then on to Goginan on Sunday, planning on bivvying somewhere in NyA as doubt landlord of Druid will let us camp in his back garden again ( ). 175k (107miles) and 5098m of climbing, some checkpoints, some nice trails that we know well, one or two new...

Giant Trance 27.5, based on the 2015 WRT experience! I have a trance which was a great bikepacking bike, unfortunately I bought the base model so it had cheap suspension front and rear, both are now gubbed and in need of replacing The Fox Evolution forks that came with mine were terrible, I've put ...

Re: Great weekend! Thanks :-)
We had a GPS route recording failure but we definitely exceeded 200km and 20,000ft of climbing according to my software calculations. Think we might have even picked up 4 CPs by accident. Took in that lovely track from Glaslyn to the top of Nant y Moch, tussocks via the bridge in the middle of nowhe...

Is it passable? Saw this image on Twitter from January, and have some recollection of reading that the track is closed?

I have a Giant Trance for playing (although I have done a bike packing trip on it) a Pompino for road duty, and a Fargo for everything else. It's the bike I would save, can't see myself ever selling it. Looking for a set of Rebas to go on the front so I can keep up on the rough stuff, but I don't fi...

Drank the wine, so went for a walk on the Mynd yesterday. Today I did battle with the wind and rain and rode 45 miles, stopping to watch my son's team end their footballing season top of the league with a 5 -0 away win. Had to get out of the saddle to make progress on the flat such was the headwind,...
