Mine roughly contains the following
Plasters - various
Steristrips
Absorbant dressing x 2
Medical tape
Gaffa tape
Pain killers
Gloves
Triangular bandage
Sam Splint (arm size)
Eye wash
Iodine
Disinfectant wipes
Tick remover/tweezers
Small knife
Nail cutters ... trust me here.
Sterile needle
Overkill for just about the majority of situations but I'm so used to carrying it when I'm working, that it's become second nature to pack it or at least the majority of it. After doing numerous REC courses over the years, I've come to realise that the skill/ability to improvise is actually more use than what you're carrying.

I worked as a nurse most of my life so reckon I could compromise pretty well.

One of my favourite tricks is 'mending' a punctured lung with a tyre boot and gaffa tape

I do, habit for me as I used to work as a river guide/kayak coach and ski tour guide. Usual MLTB,SMBA, BCU approved packs, but as has been said, the best first aid kit you can buy is of little use if you lack the knowledge, experience and confidence to use it.
Will you be bringing your uniform next week Ray?? 8-)

always a basic one -
antiseptic wipes, plasters various, a dressing, resusitation face mask!
anything else can be fixed with gaffer tape, zip ties and my spare inner tube

Yes of sorts - I have done a bit of nursing too so am all for improvising
But one of my favourite things to take is cohesive bandage, bizarre stretchy bandage that sticks to itself (as it's name suggests!). It has saved many an aching knee or ankle on some of the long rides I've done. I dollop of ibuprofen gel and wrap it up an it almost feels like a new knee after a few mins. No need for pins or tape and fits any joint brilliant stuff.
You can get them from Tesco for a couple of quid -or decathlon in the equestrian section as they are sold to wrap horses legs.

Just a very basic bag of steri strips, micropore, a couple of sterile dressings, some wipes, arse cream, ibuprofen, tweezers, knife, lighter and a sewing kit for those Rambo style field surgery sessions.

Two (out of date) crepe bandages in the bottom of whatever pack I carry. Not sure if it's me taking a cavalier, apathetic or appropriate approach :?

Seems to me that most people are carrying one or not admitting to not carying one on here so I have done the sensible thing and bought myself a basic one. Should really have done it a long time ago I suppose,

Yep, came in handy when Flatfishy's quiet mate needed pain killers in some Bothy after smashing his wrist up.
