A newbie mate on a budget has his eye on either of these.

If budget will stretch, then a Zephyros 1 for £85 here. Superb tent and one that has a secondhand value unlike the ones you linked.

The budget vango's use very poor quality fibreglass poles which are notorious for snapping.

I've got a Gelert Solo you can have for a beer. There's actually two of 'em...but my wife modded hers only to find out she doesn't get on with it (she added a J zip to the enclosed side in order to put gear under the shell where it was being wasted space). The mod is rough but very workable and could probably be tidied up. Let me know if you want one/both. Both will cost you two beers.

Few times then sold it for a fiver more than I paid for it Well liked Stateside
With various forum mods on alloy pole conversions etc.......I'm just too old/big and
Not supple enough to live with it

Hi all , looking at getting the Zephyros tent myself but wondering what height you guys are as some reviews of various 'small' 1 man tents say they aren't much good for people over approx 6ft ?! I'm just over 6ft tall

I'm 6ft 4 and would say I'm on the limit but it's a good tent, especially for the money.

Uhm, more tarp-tent than tent but looks okay - option of outer or inner only which could be handy.

Once it arrives and I measure it up I will be onto you for two carbon poles if you think they would be suitable? I did ask about Trekkertent drift poles a little while back but decided to try this cheaper options.

It only requires one pole doesn't it John. I see one pic shows it with two but off-set poles are weaker than vertical ones as they're subject to bending forces ... and besides, one's cheaper than two

Also looking. How about the Vango Zenith 100? Looks like a copy of the Zephyros, also pitches in 1, but a bit bigger inside, bathtub groundsheet, pockets, similar weight & size (Vango list 'trail weight' 1.55kg), smaller packsize (35x14).

Looks alright that. I always found the Vango TSB system made quite a difference to how stable hooped pole designs were in the wind and the 'Gothic arch' does increase internal space a little.
