Getting bike to Hook of Holland

in a moment of pissed-up-ness myself and Helen bought tickets to see the Toy Dolls in Arnhem in 2 weeks time

We've decided to cycle there and back from the Hook of Holland as a penance for our alcoholic ways but the ferry option is looking quite expensive. We need to be there Saturday AM and the Friday night ferry requires a cabin. We have to return Sunday late PM and hence another overnight and another cabin and it's adding up to £250 for us and our bikes.

Am I missing a cheaper option for misers?

I don't know if you've ever seen them live Stu but there are few bands better on the stage.

Unfortunately thats probably the only way.
Looking on how to get to Belgium myself, and the ferry is expensive.

This could be cheating, but potentially drive to Dover, park, ferry to Dunkirk and ride up?

We don't have enough time for the Dunkirk option so I've sold one of Helen's kidneys and booked the ferry. Just need to tell her now.

ps. Chew I have some books sat on my desk that I should have mailed you about 3 months ago

I use that crossing a couple of times a year, I'm pretty sure a cabin is essential on a night crossing.
There may be an option of booking a seat in the executive lounge but a cabin is much better as you have a comfy bed and a shower.
If it's £250 return for 2 folks and 2 cabins that's only £125 each so not much different to Mikes costs ... £60 for a crossing and accommodation isn't too steep ....
I love this crossing as we can all have a few beers, a good sleep , a shower, get woken up to "Don't worry, Be Happy", and you leave the ferry refreshed and clean and rested already in European time at 08:00 in a place called Monster. What's not to like. :)

Yeah in hindsight it's not too bad. But when we pissed-up-booked it we were thinking nearer £100.

Next question, is it relatively easy to cycle out of the port and Hook of Holland? I've planned a route using a Dutch cycle route planner which has hopefully got us onto quiet paths/roads.

Yes dave to the above! It's a great place to cycle u have access to so many cycleways. I'll be home later I will buzz the route to you. Then u can pick at it if you want. We did ride via Amsterdam but if you look at my route in reverse you should be able to ride to arnhem direct and we stayed on a cracking campsite just out of town.

Here's a wee present for you and Helen. The Toy Dolls. I've placed them in my trug with a bit of parsley to give them an off-road feel.
