Badge manufacturing ... possible bargains.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

I've just looked at some Karrimor camping mats from their Xlite range and at first didn't pay much attention ... until I realised that they're exactly the same mats that are sold by a more 'premium' brand for quite a few quid more.

The one that really stood out is the air mattress affair, it's full length and comes in at 300g which I think makes it one of the lightest full length mats available. The Xlite one is less than £30, the other company are really pushing 'their version' with full page adverts in some of the outdoor mags ... they'd like £60 for it ;)

Seems to be any from the Xlite range.

who is going to 'risk' one on the WRT then :D

It does look good. I did a google to see if anyone else was chattering about it but found nothing.

To be fair, they both share the same rrp of £60, but F+T sell theirs for half price.

Great mat though and an even better price.

I've ordered one to try, so long as when I get it it does weigh 300g

The RRP means nothing though as F&T own the Karrimor brand and it's nothing to do with the legendary Karrimor of yesteryear! There's a website where you can but this stuff in bulk, it's like the Alpiit tent light, is sold branded by other companties

I have to say that I thought their quoting 300g was optimistic for a full length mat, given that the "other" ones weigh more than that...

The other manufacturer are quoting 300g ... even ultralightoutdoorgear are quoting the same figure. You might notice that the picture on this link and the F+T link look quite similar ;)

Oh, I thought we were talking about POE mats

Still, I thought UOG are normally pretty good at quoting actual weights, not aspirational ones :?
