I do like this old Hanebrink. It's probably slow and ponderous* but something about it just looks right.

Got seriously potential for fun and utility with the addition of a serious bit of electric assistance. 500w extra ought to do it :-bd

I like it, bit Moulton-esque on steroids. I imagine it would be fun on the snow pack, if a little slow!

It was a modified one of those that Helen Skelton used to try to cycle to the South Pole. It was useless.

She covered 329 miles by kite ski, 103 by bike, and 68 by cross-country ski.

Is that odd cog because otherwise the rear mech drags on the ground?

It looks like it might be a mid-drive. I only know about them because I have a recumbent which has one. It increases the gearing range with the small drive wheel. It does also alter the angle and length of the chain, which is probably a good thing in this case.

I'm just surprised the US army one doesn't have an engine in the first place!

I really like that. Clearly not for everyday use and I've no idea when I'd ever use it, if indeed ever
But yes, something is just right with it.

I am a fat bike fan (snow only) but I dislike it.

Good example for the stupidity of the military/army :-bd

I do like the feel and looks of the Snowshoe XXL from Vee. Now that's a proper snow worthy tyre.
