What do folk use to protect the mouthpiece from animal ordure (sh*t!) on water bottles mounted on the frame? The only one I've come across that looks like it will do the job is the Camelbak Chute http://shop.camelbak.com/chute-cap/d/1326_c_322

From a bit of reading it seems that the bottles don't properly fit bottle cages (great ) but does the cap fit ordinary bottle threads?

As it happens I've one of those winging/crawling its way from CTBM via Royal Mail for the fat bike.

It doesn't keep all the crap off all of the bottle all of the time. But it's rare it get a mucky bottle cap.

It's good enough that I've never bothered looking for anything better

A problem ive had too, a few solutions depending on situation.

Mostly use my thermos sports water bottle, fits in a cage, 750ml, has a plastic cover to protect the nozzle that springs back with a button.
Best part, its stainless steel! Not the lightest but bombproof, tastes fantastic to drink from and has that retro appeal to it.

If I'm using a full Framebag I keep bottles in stem cells on the bars, great for access and distance but not great for handling having weight high on the bars.

Tried bladders, either Framebag or back but got sick of cleaning and filling them.

What does work well however is a Source adapter to add a hydration hose to standard or nalgene bottles, no crud and easier to clean but tastes like rubber.

I picked up a couple of these in the online sale a while back. They were only £1 each at the time.

That Chute cap is for nalgene/lexan style bottles though I think

I have a couple of bottles with lids that I use for local mucky rides - an Elite one and a cheap Halfords/Tesco piss bottle. They're OK, not amazing

I find the Camelbak Podiums fit fine in the right cage, but not all cages. They are without doubt the best bidons available though, there is a cap available for them

I lost my Travel Tap (filter bottle) in the Alps a couple of weekends ago. Still had the filter in my bag, was using the bottle as a normal bottle at that point. I ordered a new bottle so I could use my old filter. The bottle has changed and feels a bit easier to squeeze. It's a cycling piss bottle and comes with a lid



The lids from Fruit Shoots sometimes fit on a piss bottle lid, not all bottles though

I have been using a Nalgene ATB bottle for the past 10 plus years. The cover looks fragile but has been amazingly tough and has survived many unplanned ejections from the bike.

Nah, can't be doing with those heavy containers and cradles and whatnot, the H20's heavy enough as it is. One of these with a swapped pop-top, 15g. MYOG gaffer tape holster, cabletied to bars. Job done. Sawyer in your pocket ("or are you just pleased to see me"), or shop/house/caff/pub, for top-ups.
