A bit embarrassing, I've used OS maps most of my life, but I can't work out / find out what the hell this symbol is on the online 1:50000 maps from OS?!

Any ideas?

Note: Wales only. For woodlands it represents anything that was formally classified as Forestry Commission, but will now include all government owned non-forestry land - which might be wind farms, or restored habitat areas (dry heath, peat bog, grassland and so on)

Schrodingers forest

Does the tree even fall down if there's no one there to witness it?

Looks like the geocache symbol I have on my gps, so not technically on the map but more stored on the gps' memory - I think you can switch them off - ignore that Chew is right, it just looked similar . . . Should really read the thread properly!

Cheers folks, it seems the Os app shows an outdated legend!

Thanks
