i'm planning on making one of these soon - looks like it should work pretty well.

Gairy, I have used as GE silicone to seal the seams of my Tarptent. Works like a charm and is easy to apply, you would need some white spirits as well to dilute the silicone.

This is the type I've used:

that works....?

just regular DIY shop bathroom silicon diluted with white spirit?

sounds too easy a solution (but i'm hoping it does as i've got some laying around the place somewhere).

Kept me dry a couple of nights in Snowdonia :)
If it's pouring down I get a couple o drops through two tie outs which I have to work on, being the lazy guy I am it's due since last year
The trick is to use a couple of layers, the first one being rather thin (a bit thicker than vegetable oil) to penetrate the seams and the last one a bit thicker. I think I put 3 layers on mine - giving extra care to all the stress points - waiting for each layer to dry 24h before applying the next one.

I've bought my silicone from Henry's site together with the tent. I'm pretty sure it's the same one as linked, but I can double check in the evening.
