Bar extender and ghetto pump

Had a couple of those reflector brackets lying around so blagged some tube from the LBS, applied some emery paper to get rid of the burrs and I've a bar extender on which to fit front light and Garmin.

Having removed the tyre from my wife's 26" rear wheel then managed to buy a 27.5" tyre replacement  (returned to shop and got the right size - phew!) I was putting it on this evening but couldn't get the tyre rims to seal so decided to actually use the old 2 litre bottle of Ginger Beer that's been sat on the kitchen worktop since last summer waiting for such an event (which is a different way of saying that I couldn't be arsed). Drill out the top and fit two valves from old inner tubes then discover that we've no tubing to connect the valves. One trip to B&Q is unsuccessful but on the way back I'm passing Halfords who have some "windscreen washer tubing" that looks right. Fitting it all together and go for it. At 80psi the tube flies off the valve and puts the sh*ts up the cat. I've no jubilee clip small enough to fix the tube to the valve, ho-hum. Next attempt I stop pumping at 75psi but on releasing the pressure it's no good and the tyre doesn't inflate. A sudden thought and I remove the core from the valve on the wheel and it's third time lucky

I've been using pop bottles for a couple of years but now I have a fat bike I thought something with a bigger volume (and a trigger!) was in order, this garden sprayer was a breeze to convert and works superbly. I'm also less scared that it's going to explode and rip my face off

Can you post some more pix showing the tubing please. Great idea.

Thanks

Basically, the conversion involved taking a presta valve from a dead inner tube and inserting it into a 3-4cm section of hose cut from the sprayer tube. I then drilled out the innards of the sprayer's screw-on safety valve and inserted the presta valve and just screwed the assembly back on (you can't see this in the pic but I'll try to remember to take another pic and post it up).

It was then just a case of chopping another section of the hose out and screwing it into the end of the spayer wand. That fits neatly over the valve on the tyre (with the core removed), pump the whole thing up to about 50psi and pull the trigger on the sprayer and hey presto!

Easier than the pop bottle version and much less shonky/scary.

Use a spare car wheel as an air tank... oh wait.. nobody has them any more..
