Dynamo Lights & USB charger

Hi guys I suspect this may be re-visited post but just in case it isn't, I'm hoping for some advice please:
I'm trying to solve the issue of multi day riding and being in a position where I can use lights at night & keep my iPhone charged for mapping.
I like the look of the Exposure Revo dynamo & hub light set but I don't think it is capable of charging anything else. Does anyone know how I could solve both problems in one hit...I have a 29er with disc brakes...any advice would be much appreciated

As you have suspected it's a fairly standard requirement these days with the amount of electronic gadgets we take with us. You're in the situation of not knowing what you need to look for is called. Basically it's a rectifier/cache battery.
Something like this
http://bearbonesbikepacking.blogspot.co ... ckery.html or the B&M EWerk page 22 -
http://www.bumm.de/fileadmin/user_uploa ... nglish.pdf is what you need. They convert the AC of the dynamo/alternator to DC and smooth the output since some units aren't keen on a variable charging current (Garmin GPS units seem prone to this)
The road touring sites have quite a bit on this -

I have a SP Dynamo (which failed on the bearings front last night) and this is attached to a biologic power converter which attaches to the front fork and then has a micro USB connector at the other end.
http://www.thinkbiologic.com/products/r ... -usb-cable
I then connect this to a rav power battery (as these will allow you to charge the batter and connect to a device at the same time) be it a exposure light, which I do. And an iPhone. I use a waterproof case and use view ranger mapping.
Don't use anker batteries as they wont let you charge the battery and device at same time.
A powermonkey battery's will work as well.
I find this a much more simple and cheap and reliable way to charge
With this set up you are not restricted to a dynamo light. I use a exposure toro and if needed it will charge from the rav power battery.

Whitestone's covered it. I have a dyno hub and light with a B+M USB-Werk running from a wire up the steerer tube and held in a gas tank or bar bag that also holds whatever's being charged. Needs good connections but has run my phone and garmin w/o issue on a few rides. Charges fast on tarmac, often under 3hrs for a flat to full Garmin 2000mah battery, but 29er off-road would drop the charge speed noticeably.
The Revo + Exposure light is basically a direct hub to light set up but I think they have a bigger light with a large in-out storage battery so it will charge a Garmin or phone with the right wire, seems to be a common set up.

B&M are also doing a light with a cache battery IQ2.
There is also the thingy that fits inside the steerer and replaces the headset cap.
USB is not weatherproof but people seem to be able to use it if you use some thought.
My ideal set up at present would be Son28 with B&M light and ewerk-usb.

I've got. Son28 hub and an edelux 2 light and a plug 3 USB charger. I charge up a battery during the day and my gadgets. When light is on gadgets charge from the battery

I use the SP PD-8X with a kLite (standlight version) and the Sinewave Revolution for charging. I use a cache battery to charge up during the day when I don't need the lights. That way the battery is charged later if I need to charge the GPS after dark. Some models of USB cache batteries allow for simultaneous charging/recharge. These are ideal. I think the RavPower and LimeFuel makes do this, but I've not yet got my hands on one yet. Still using a basic Anker model.
Anyone recommend a simultaneous charging/recharge battery? Ideally one that can handle a 2A input for fast charging during the odd pub/cafe stop.
