Has anyone made one?

I have been thinking of lighting for when I get a dynamo, and was a trifle surprised at the cost of some of the dynamo lights.
When CNC aluminium CREE lights can be had for £10-20, and a rectifier/SuperCap circuit can be made for cheap(so cheap you get them in windup LED torches for £1-2)

So, I'm thinking of making one, and was wondering, is there anything that I've missed?

and/or any reason why I can't just make a rectifier/cap circuit to use with this:

Looks like the answer is yes totally possible, and someone's already designed some better circuits than I have to do it :D

What about this:


Dynamo Hub > Charger > Power Bank > USB light

USB Light - £5
Power bank - £9 (3000mA)
Charger - DIY

I had an old original Exposure big daddy light, the battery had failed. Ripped out the guts and used asimple rectifier/cap trippler circuit to raise the voltage over 12v (Exposure LEDs in use on that one requirement)
Added a few of the biggest 16v capacitors I could fit in the can as a standstill light and it works pretty well.
It's actually almost instantaneous to illuminate from standstill compared to my Revo, the beam pattern of those old MTB lights though is quite poor.
