hi all im slowly turning my verenti millook into a bikepacking /lightweight tourer
im thinking of adding these bars as i plan to hopefully fit a kanga with a 13 l aplkit bag on the front also are the woodchippers wider so that the drybag will be accomodated better between the bars and not obstruct the levers
and a possum frame bag ,im waiting for my xl stem cell to accomodate my brukit in conjuction with normal stem cell with
other brew kit / nibbles
any pointers ,btw i use a camper longflap on the back
heres my current set up

I tried the woodchippers, found the angle of the whole hood/hook area meant that you had a very wide drops section compared to the levers area, ie the levers were angled inwards a fair bit and that has pros and cons, one con was less bag space than expected. I have other bars now that give more lever / bag space but have less extreme drops section width, prefer them for road and easy off-road use - you may prefer the 'chippers width though. Worth considering anyway.

I have some useful contacts in Taiwan via work so I got a set made to my spec to try out. 47cm c-c width, loads of space for a full 8l stuffsack or enough for a rolled-down 13l. If the Cowchipper comes in 46cm they'd be worth a look if the Woodchippers aren't the right shape.

I use a 13L Alpkit bag on my Woodchippers and find that works really well.

Not a great pic but these are 46cm woodchippers with an 8l bag, there's room there

Currently testing a set of Cowchippers instead of my normal Woodchippers. More space for a bag up front, quite liking them. Main difference is the distance the hoods protrude, which is shorter. I suspect these will be staying on my bike for the near future.

There are also Genetic Digest bars:

I've a set but still to fit them instead of the Woodchippers on the Gryphon. I like the Woodchippers but do wonder whether something with less drop into the hooks would be better. When I built the Gryphon I wanted flared bars like those on the demo bike I rode. They were a bit of a novelty and it was either them, On One Midges (name? - whatever the hooks were too short) or Rageley Luxy's (now discontinued). All a bit of a learning experience

I have a pair gathering dust / waiting to be tried (I CBA to re-tape bars). I really must sell some stuff (but not these)

IIRC peeps liked the shape but they were stiffer than a stiff thing.

I like the shape, but can't say I noticed they were overly stiff on the Stoater, but it does have Scarborough fork so perhaps that helps.

I haven't ridden them so it's not personal experience and I'm only repeating something I read on the internet. So, we all know how much faith should be placed in that

These new fork standards...

Any news on if/when the new style Stoater is going to be available to order?

Scarborough ??! Where the feck did that come from..? Typed that in a hurry and didn't really check it afterwards.. Thanks, Apple.

New Stoaters? Not sure on that. The design has been given the full thumbs up from me, so your best bet would be give Steven or Russ a call and say you want one :-bd

Here are my woodchipper bars on the fargo. Great for on road and the flared drops are good off road.
