Set off on Friday for a two night trip round Plynlimon via the Teifi Pools, Nant yr Arian and Staylittle.

Got to the Teifi pools just as it got dark and managed to find a decent spot for the tarp. Very wet overnight and a bit foggy in the morning but it started to clear up as I descended towards Ffair Rhos.

Navigating down into the Ystwyth valley was a bit awkward, but I made it down to the bridge at Hafod ok.

Then off into the woods, towards Nant Syddion and Ponterwyd. Stopped for a breather in the sun, watching the buzzards wheeling above.

Bumped into Flatfishy at Nant-yr-Arian - I was focussed entirely on getting breakfast at this point, so sorry if I was a bit off - nice to meet you! Good fry up, pot of tea and a massive slab of chocolate set me up for a very wet stretch to Nant y Moch.

Lots of bog, torn up byway and wet feet for the next couple of hours until the sun came back out as I got to a series of lovely little lakes.

This was the remains of a hailstorm that had given me a good soaking an hour before that I'd been watching as it moved eastwards in front of me.

I had planned to stop in Hafren for the night, but the forecast (close to freezing), cold feet and the lure of a hot shower dragged me back away from the woods. Down into Llangurig (along the Trans-Cambrian Way) then followed the Wye down the back roads through Dernol towards Rhayader to get warmed up with beer and a kebab.

Look like some great stuff especially the beer and kebab at the end :D

Good report, cheers Chris. Did you carry a backpack as well or is that full kit on the bike? Tis very neat

Backpack as well - Osprey Talon 11. Bivvy/sleeping bag on the bars; Thermarest, clothes and tarp in the saddle bag; food, stove, water and jacket in the backpack; everything else wedged in the tangle bag. Too much stuff really, I need to trim down the amount a bit. New PHD bag and vest arrived this week, so that'll knock a bit of bulk and weight off.
