what time are people thinking of starting BB200?

Post by slowupslowdown-under »

I was thinking as close to 10am as possible to avoid the getting passed by everyone at the start as in previous years

anyone else given start time a thought or is it mainly 'when I am ready' type feeling??

As early as possible, to maximise daylight riding (of course, my sub-24hr plan has only been right on one out of two of my BB200s so far  ).

Starting earlier than the fast people also means you get to see a few more people later on rather than be in your own little 'speed bubble' of similar-paced riders.

Before some people, after other people. I'm not overly concerned about maximising daylight.

It's funny that you still think you'll actually be riding your bike!

There is Dave ... there's a 2 hour window between 8.00am and 10.00am*.

'Riding' relative to last years 'yomping' and 'cursing'. I suspect your training ride this year puts you in the significantly-faster-than-me category, but say hello as you sprint past

Hate getting up early but don't want to start too late, so around 9am I reckon.

I'd thought about this strategy too, Burty. However, I think I might skip the Guinness before the event...folks might take me for a lush.

If I'm feeling spiritely and fancy my chances at a (semi) decent time then I'll set off nice and early otherwise whenever my faffing naturally comes to an end (likely just before 10).

We'll see what the work and back gods have in store for me in the coming weeks.

Vaguely related...

...does anyone know of a taxi service that could take someone from Caersws to Llanbrynmair? Missus wants to drive me back (better than me falling asleep!) so she's booked a train into Caersws on the Sunday, but we're not sure how to get her from there to Llanbrynmair.
