Things I learnt (life, universe, everything)

From the weekend's jaunt in Northumberland.

Sprinter trains do not have enough room for bikes when combined with teenage mums who have emptied Primark's shelving
Knowing where you are going helps (a lot)
Hearing a sloshing sound when you shake the gas canister does not mean "there's plenty"
Wives need feeding.
Hearing a sloshing sound when you shake the hip flask does not mean there's enough whiskey.
Mentioning that you might be lucky and the walkers will open the gate for you means they'll totally ignore you

I grew up on a farm (South Lakes as it happens) - I'm used to awkward gates.

Actually there were one or two but generally they were OK.

All good lessons worth learning there.
