My Gore AlpX shorts have finally died and I cannot find anyone selling them anymore in my size

Yes they are good shorts - a bit sweaty when it's hot, and the crotch will rip open in a few thousand miles, but they are waterproof and have pockets and are pretty good value. I need to get another pair.

I dislike those endura ones quite a bit. Always sliding down my is and need pulling up all the time.

I'm going to mod a pair of omm kamlieka trousers soon.

Had some MT500 3/4 Spray jobbies, had a strange fit & kept sliding down, plus they developed a tear in the ass sooner than i would have expected..

Seen the omm kamlieka shorts?

I can't imagine Kamleka shorts lasting any time on the bike hen mixed with mud spray and saddle friction; the material is so delicate. The seem taping also came off first time I washed my old pair - may have used the wrong wash!

Im not sure that waterproof shorts are as good as all that in the longterm as they get trashed pretty quickly from the crap and im yet to find any that actually keep u dry in heavy rain for more than an hour. But iv used altura attack 3/4 shorts now for four years iv had the same pair and they are great I defo buy another pair but they dont keep u dry for to long if its heavy but they are great at keeping crap off ur inners

Endura Heliums have served me well. 150g or so, pack small, can be worn all day. I expect they'll wear through fairly fast if you're in the Peak Dist w/o guards but mine show no signs of wear after 3 full days of BP use off road, proper long days, and a good few road days of 10-15hrs. Once they're on due to bad weather I tend to keep them on for the day so that says something about the comfort, breathability etc.

I have a pair of altura semi-dry. They have a waterproof arse, but are zipped/vented, tough and quite breathable. They keep the worst off my arse, and whilst not waterproof, I don't sweat madly in them. They've not done massive miles, but the miles they have done have all been plenty gritty etc. and all seems ok so far. I'm very pleased for the money.

I have had a few pairs of the Endura Superlite and I'm about to get another pair. The arse will fall apart after a while but I just keep getting it repaired.

I don't really wear waterproof shorts to keep me dry. I find that wearing them helps keep my bibs from getting saturated, when I wear these it only ever feels damp unlike all my other shorts. Damp is fine for me it's saturated when I find it uncomfortable and cold.

I've had Superlites which lasted donkeys years with a bit of sewing on the seams after a while. Simple but fairly effective. I've now got some MT500 sprays which I can't believe will last anywhere near as long but are nicer to wear. The most waterproof I've used are cut-off goretex camo trousers from eBay. They are a very non-technical cut, despite my mods (!) and a bit rustly but they do the job surprisingly well.

I had a pair of Tenn Proteans which were £18 and were great while they lasted. They're made small though unfortunately

I'm on 2nd pair of Endura Superlites too. Great shorts, a little hot, but I still wore them in some heavy storms in Colorado, it was 35°C,

I've repaired the crotch, so now it wont rip open, but as they come new, they will rip open pretty quickly.

It seems like a good idea but you are going to get a wet behind unless you have got your seat pack or X blade fitted.
Has anyone tried them?

Idea I like best so far is charliecres with the cut off Gtex. Might give that a go.

A few roadie mate have them and love them. Not sure how well they'd work off road though..

+1 on Camo Gtx Trs cut-down into shorts. Difficult to get hold of now as the new style have side zips which don't covert to shorts easily.

Looking at the cut of them you could keep dry and get hypothermia and look like one of the village people.

I went for the Superlights in the end. Was going to test them at the Shindig but the forecast is against me...ace!
