Things I Learnt (Tywi Ton 100)

So this weekend just gone, I attempted the route for the Tywi Ton. Things I learnt...

- 34 / 11-36 has no place on wet rock/loose climbs when your action sucks as well as mine;
- Descending on wet rock/loose rubbish/rutted grooves when you suck on a bike like me should be kept to a minimum;
- AlanG is an unstoppable machine;
- There is mountain biking, there is wet feet and then there is Strata Florida;
- My right side takes more abuse from falls than the left (Taylor-esque over the bars type falls included);
- No amount of eating/drinking coffee at the first resupply can make Burty appear from out of the trees.

A big thanks to AlanG for keeping the humour level high when the going was messy.

And a shout out to Burty - I hope you're ok fella...you vanished before I knew it.

here I am not to worry.

34 /11/36 I will agree has no place on wet rocks or long climbs , hence today I swapped my front ring for a 30t.
also on one of the small lanes I got stuck behind a farmer taking about 500 bloody sheep up the road for at least an hour :lol:
Then I got chased by two dogs in the absolute middle of nowhere, it was a good job It was downhill or I would of lost.
alan is an unstoppable machine , even on the way to the start he was off.

great route , I shall probably go back in a couple of weeks and do it again

But Mike...you missed a fantastic slog over Carnau, through SF and around the massive nettle patch in front of someone's house searching for a non-existant trail!

I'm sure you too, would have had some choice words to say about the grassy hill slog nearing the end...the word "unnecessary" was uttered a few times.
