Cable oilers

So I'm slowly stripping and rebuilding the bike post tour and my rear disc brake tends to get really 'sticky' over time so...

...people with full length outers to rear cable disc brakes. Do you use cable oilers?

If so, in your experience where in the run of outer do you put them for best effectiveness?

Nope
I don't use cable oilers.
My commuter uses a full length outer on the rear disc.
I use fibrax PTFE cable with no issues for a least two years.

Yeah I've been using essentially the Shimano version of those cables and with a better sealed ferrule at the lever end.

The problem could be that on Shimano cable discs you don't use a ferrule at the brake end and as the mount is on the chainstay it sort of points the cable exit into the air inviting water ingress.

So cable oilers...

Fat bike has bontrager cables and never oiled them, and the bike doesn't get looked after either

Various bikes with double full length outers for Rohloff.
I've given up on teflon lined or other "quality" cables. Cheap outers and stainless inners with Middleburn oilers works for me.
I put them near the middle, about half way down the down tube and the oil always comes out both ends. Just make sure you put a piece of card or rag between the cable end and disc before squirting.

I've used cable oilers on a few bikes. I find with cable discs they are more trouble than they are worth. If you forget to put a rag at the caliper end to catch GT85 p*ssing out the end, you'll get it all over your pads/rotor.
