Just started making an myog inner tent and I'm just looking for any alternatives to using a zip for a door. Anyone seen/use anything else?

I've seen Velcro, buttons, magnetic strips, a roll and tuck floor and giant plastic zip lock bag style zips used, but they all seem heavier, more complicated and less secure than plain old zip closures

YKK are the industry standard brand name, and from experience Coil zips are far superior to teeth, although I've not noticed much difference in longevity between plastic coil and metal coil.

off the top of my head, making the inner midge proof is paramount. Not much beats a zip for this.

A roll top style closure may work, with a clip at each end, if you could make it non fiddly to do up. Might be baggy in the middle though.

Assuming the 'door' is reasonably high, it might be possible to make the opening a 'slit' very similar to the bottom of a Hennesey hammock. There'd need to be a good amount of tension across it but given the available stretch in netting it might be feasable?

the bulk of the inner walls will be made of a silnylon material with maybe just a section near the top made with noseeum netting for ventilation. The reason for this is I find it really difficult sewing with noseeum (my sewing machine skills are pretty basic).

I've found an old tent zip about 2.2m long I could use but it's adding a bit much to the weight for my liking, so I'll keep googling to see if there's other options.

What about some kind of elasticated drawstring hole in the centre? Simple but effective? I know it would be like getting in to your tent through a sphincter, but still....
