Cheap rear rack for El Mariachi ?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap rear rack that would work with a Salsa El Mar?
Doesn't need to be strong but does need to attach to more than the seat tube.

The fall back is the specific Salsa rack at about £100 including the special seat clamp thingy.
I just wondered if there was anything cheaper given I don't need it to take much load.

Do the alternator drop-outs cause issues?

I dont like the way they need to use spacers to mount the racks, puts more leverage on the shear load through the bolt.

Axle mounted, you will still need a method to attach to seat stays or seatpost

or one of these and fit a longer bolt?

A quick google dosnt reveal many cheap options for the seatpost clamp with rack mounts. I have one but its the wrong size.

The seat post rack mounts can be had here, assuming not sold yet: http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpBB ... f=9&t=5760

I think P clips as FLV posted would work on the seat stays. No impact on the Alternator.

However, I found when I ran a rack on a steel Genesis that it stiffened up the back end considerably to the point of it being uncomfortable. Unsure if this is a common occurrence or just me. Part of what I like about the El Mar is the comfy ride so I would not want to jeopardise that.

Thank you all. The link to tredz shows there are loads of options out there.
