I've had a Blizzard bag since they came out, and it has dutifuly been up and down Munros and other mountains, all the while sealed in its VHS cassette sized pack.

I'm looking to ride something this weekend where I may need to bivi if I don't complete it all in one go, and was thinking of taking it along for a couple of hours of unconsciousness. Has anyone else actually used one through choice, and are they any good for a comfy sleep instead of just for survival?

My other option is a warm jacket, bivi bag and Ron Hill tracksters (my unused Capital Trail choice). I don't want to have to carry a full sleeping bag as it's an extra pound or so over this option.

Not in a blizzard bag but have 'slept' in a survival bag. lack of breathability is an issue. plus consider how to pack it away again - they don't go back in the packet!

No personal experience, but I'd certainly consider it in the right circumstances.

If you had some clothes you would be fine. Not comfortable but ok. Light weight cycling clothes you could be in trouble on a cold night and exhausted. My advice don't stop☺

I always carry a Primaloft jacket when an overnight is a possibility. I may give the Sol Escape a shot just for packing (and re-packing) purposes, as the Blizzard might be a PITA to shrink enough to fit into my rucksack.

How does the sol escape compare to the sol emergency bivy? I bought the emergency bivvy (when i meant to buy the escape) a couple of years ago thinking to use it as a heat reflective bivy bag over a light sleeping bag (under a tarp not in the open), but I've never actually used it.

Being generally a warm sleeper I'm more concerned about condensation problems, but have seen some add a velcro 'zip' to allow some venting, though that'd be no use in the open.
