Hello all, recently joined and what better first post than an introduction?

I'm based in the south wales valleys, smack in the middle of Brecon and the afan valley bike centre. I'm a hiker turned cyclist, due to being unable to drive my road bike is my main mode of transport, with my mtb replacing my hiking adventures

I've gathered quite the collection of outdoor equipment and only just had my first bikepacking trip to afan and it was a blast....no sense of freedom like it, anyone else bivvied around the neath/afan valleys?

Hoping on getting out as much as possible, I am self employed and sew for a living, so I've already kitted myself out with quite alot of MYOG, and constantly testing and building ideas

Oh and I'm type 1 diabetic, and cycle to prove alot of people wrong about the disease

Any advice on a light 2 person tent?

I've been looking at the ultralight offerings from decathlon, 2.6kg for a 3berth with room for bikes seems reasonable, more so as it'll be split between 2

A tent is needed as most trips will be with my partner, and she wasn't impressed when I showed her alpkit's newest 2 person "body bag" haha

2.6kg isn't ultralight.
Your bike lives outside your tent, if you are worried about your bike outside the tent you are bivi'ing in the wrong places.

Get a tarp/smaller lighter tent and a lock that if needed you can lock your bike to a tree.

My difficulty is finding a compromise between going lightweight, and my partner being comfortable.

For solo trips my tarp and bivi combo weighs under 800g quite cheaply, and I find myself quite comfortable, but too minimal for her, I figured 1300g each for enough space to live out of a good compromise.

I really liked the look of the new alpkit tents, 1200g halfed looked too good to be true untill I saw the HH....

The lightest thing I've seen with that much space is Big Agness Super Scout UL2. Weighs under a kilo (but you'll need poles). Polarcherry has one and seems to like it.
