BB200 on Trackleaders?

Just wondering if it is possible to get the BB200 added as an event to Trackleaders http://trackleaders.com/ just like the Highland Trail 550 was.

Last year I was following a few individual riders doing the BB200 with their spot accounts. But Trackleaders does make it a lot simpler and more interesting to watch.

No, sorry Dave not going to happen anytime soon ... remember, it's not a race or an ITT (because that would be illegal, as would timing yourself via the miracle of Strava). The challenge is a personal one and the aim is just to finish. However, if anyone would like to use a SPOT so friends and family know where they are, that's peachy

OK. I hadn't realised that trackleaders was restricted to official races or ITT's rather than a groups of idiots following the same route at varying speeds ;-)

It isn't ... but once an official tracking page exists, it becomes a race / timed event / whatever in peoples minds.

There's also the issue that only a small(ish) number of people have trackers and I'd hate to put any pressure on people to buy one.

My participation should be enough to convince everyone that it isn't a race ;-)

Agreed, wouldn't want to force anyone to get them, they are not that cheap.

However, I have been very glad I spent the money. Been excellent for peace of mind while I have been riding around with dodgy phone signal and challenges keeping batteries charged. Also for friends who have been watching and supporting.

Stu,

In the light of what you said I'm wondering whether you would be up for creating a Spotwalla location page.

a) it does not require a SPOT tracker. You can also use a free phone app (the limitations of coverage and battery life accepted).

b) the location page can be configured to not show speed or time and anyway it only shows current position rather than track. Hence it is focused on "where is everyone" rather than "how is the race going".

c) there is no auto setup, people have to deliberately opt in (which includes the biggest disadvantage which is the multi-stage process to get going).

See https://spotwalla.com/help/lps.php for more details.
