Got to Bala

After a good WRT weekend (with many thanks to Stu & Dee and all the friendly people) I set off for Bala.
Thanks to all the warnings and laughter I was unsurprised when I got to the bottom of Bwlch y Groes.
In the end I made it up with just one walk of about 400 steps (about 3/4 of the steel barrier section). The Strava official top 100 climbs segment took me 55 minutes but I did stop for about 6 times for rests, jelly babys and water.
Have stopped at a campsite just past Bala which even has a little caravan as a Bothie for tent campers :-)
Thanks again all for a very memorable, challenging and a lot of the time fun event.

Dave

I like to think of Bwlch y Groes as a moderate undulation

I agree. A lot of it is really false flat.

I don't like to think about it at all

But very well done!

The sort of moderate undulation that means someone might tell stories of undulating down at 55 mph :-)

And so you should!

Was just trying to explain the ascent to my two - this site has some brilliant pics - looks like it would have been a 'nice' track back in the day (for people who like steep things!)
