sleep mat pin prick holes
Multi mat super light Has several tiny holes that were very difficult to find. They don't appear to be caused by punctures but possibly a break down in the fabric?. I am guessing this is now only useful as bin filler? The mat lasts about 5 hours before my arse is on the floor.
Any ideas for fixing or replacement? Recommendations?

Fill a kiddies paddling pool, inflate the mattress, put weights on it and/or stand on it until you see a stream of bubbles then use these Leaches from Halfords to fix it*.
Worked for me.
*But not sure if it will work on a seam

Re: sleep mat pin prick holes
Done that and found 5 holes but they are tiny, there may be more and I think the mat might be trashed.?
Opinions on the exped ul7? If I can't fix the multi mat

Bin the multimat and get the Exped. Far superior in my book.

That's a straight answer, thanksTaylor wrote:Bin the multimat and get the Exped. Far superior in my book.

I had the multimat superlite and it developed a slow leak that I can't find. I've now got an exped synmat ul 7 which is more robust, warmer and much much comfier.
I've had 2 multimats - they've both failed and neither were particularly comfy to sleep on.

I think the weight saving is largely due to re-shaping.Oooo but does that mean fragile??

I've also been interested in the new Thermarest Evolite mat. Appears to be a cross between a self inflating mat and an air mat.

Re: sleep mat pin prick holes
The hyperlite is a tapered/mummy shape so the trade-off is comfort for a 100gm weight saving and smaller pack size. If you are a side sleeper or move around a lot at night then the normal shape would probably be better.duncdan wrote:Oooo but does that mean fragile??s8tannorm wrote:I love my Synmat UL but I've spotted the new Exped Syn Hyperlite mats ... similar price but lighter

The problem I had with that style of mat was that I kept waking up having rolled off the mat - one of the major benefits of the synmat for me is the cradling effect the 2 outer most tubes give (being a larger diameter than the rest). Again, this comes down to how much you move about at night.s8tannorm wrote:I've also been interested in the new Thermarest Evolite mat. Thanks, that was one of my concerns. TBh I am baffled by the choice available!
