I know a few of you on here build your own wheels.

Where do you normally go to purchase spokes and nipples? CRC's range seems to have diminished recently..

My rear wheel needed some spokes tightening (kinesis cxdisc), but the alloy nipples have seized on the spokes...and er penetrating oil, acf50, gt85, a little bit of heat don't seem to be working on all of them to free them up So I need to replace all the nipples, and probably a few spokes. I've temporarily bodged one spoke so far by cutting a longer one down I had kicking about - but that's far from ideal Going off on a tangent here...

Cyclebasket are worth a look too

My LBS usually have a good selection along with brass nipples etc. They should be able to get you things in to if it's something specific your after. And if you ask nicely they might let you use their truing stand for ironing out the final skips/ hops etc.

+1 for Spa - normally use Sapim Race for my builds. IMO they're a good price for butted spokes and they stock them in a good selection of different lengths. I don't like black spokes or alloy nipples so I don't care that they don't sell them.

But what spokes are they? I'd prefer to use butted spokes from a reputable manufacturer if possible.

Normally build/true wheels in forks or frame, and has worked fine so far, but there is a motorbike wheel weighty frame thingy kicking about I'm sure I can modify to hold bicycle wheels - and then I think I should go and get a dial gauge

But don't take my word for it,E-mail them and ask the question,
They're very helpful,just no frills and good prices,they do some
