Anyone living in South Manchester? (Trail Building/Advocacy)

Hey guys, this is a bit of a long shot, and perhaps only tangentially related to bikepacking but I figure there’s a fair bit of crossover in interest groups.

I’m trying to organize a trail digging and advocacy group for South manchester. Basically, I wanna get some half decent singletrack the Mersey valley and do so legitimately. I’m in the very early stages of dealing with the council, so it’s still unclear whether we’ll get the go ahead. Is anyone on this forum who lives locally interested in getting involved?

Based in Leeds but have some experience with this sort of thing from years of work with SingletrAction.

Pennine Mountain Bike Action (PMBA) would probably be slightly closer to you. There's also the guys who've organised the races in north Manc' (Harry the Spider? on STW) who might have some useful input.

Relevant thread on STW:http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic ... ngadvocacy

There's a facebook group(https://www.facebook.com/groups/southma ... railsgroup), or the email/mailing list which is southmanchestertrailsgroup@gmail.com

Basically, Kenworthy woods looks about right and I had an encouraging meeting with the fella from the parks department. I'm currently trying to get a consensus on a pub to have the first informal get-to-know each-other meeting. the Beech looks like a winner, but Jackson's boat has also been suggested. Facebook is probably the best place for updates, but I'll try and keep all the email peeps in the loop, too, sicne loads of people are anti the 'book.
