Suggest a CX rim
So I'm looking for a CX rim brake rim. Needs to be 32 hole for a dynamo hub. Any suggestions?

Mavic Open Pro? Used to have them on my Felt SS crosser and never had any bother.

You might want to have a look at Stan's Iron Cross.
My brother in-law has them on his CX and they've been impressive. They have stood up well to rides in The Lakes as well as less rocky stuff in the North and South Downs.

Can the iron cross be used with rim brakes?SRS wrote:You might want to have a look at Stan's Iron Cross.

How about the unused Stan's Alpha 340 I have hanging up in the garage?

Apologies, I didn't see the rim-brake requirement.
That being the case, you might want to consider H Plus Son Archetype. I run them on my road winter bike and I do know they are popular for CX.

Re: Suggest a CX rim
Stans are so fragile that are more suitable to hang on a wall hook than ride off road... try mavic open pro or cxp 33
Re: Suggest a CX rim
Is there any real difference between the mavic open pro and Mavic open sport other than the weight?

Re: Suggest a CX rim
Are the open pros/open sports not a bit narrow for CX riding? Thought they went up to 28s ok, but not much bigger...

Sport goes up to 32mm.atk wrote:Are the open pros/open sports not a bit narrow for CX riding? Thought they went up to 28s ok, but not much bigger...
However I thought that Stu had used the 40mm on-one gravel-road tyre on his crosser with the Pro. Is that right Stu?

If it's first generation, best place for it. I've got a pair and they haven't faired well on my CX bikeHow about the unused Stan's Alpha 340 I have hanging up in the garage?

No ... the 40mm tyres are fitted to CrossRide rims on my Arkrose, the OP were on my Felt. However I thought that Stu had used the 40mm on-one gravel-road tyre on his crosser with the Pro. Is that right Stu?

Hmm OK, so what are peoples thoughts on running a 35mm tyre on a rim recommended to have a 18-32mm tyre on? Am I still going to get the benefit of the extra volume?
Re: Suggest a CX rim
For CX use I can only recommend Rose Bikes rim http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/xtre ... aid:333724 Light, stiff and cheap. Unfortunately 36 holes only...
