2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
I have set myself a target to ride 100 miles once a month (mostly on my road bike) and to have at least one overnighter once a month.
January overnighter was the Mach & Back, so just need to keep this up.
Anyone else up for getting out once a month (or more). If you missed January start now and finish in January 2013. It's all good.
* I make a tent sometimes

Thats grand! Good to have something to look forward too each month. We don't have to go to far from home either.

Why not, I'll have a pop
Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
Excellent idea, I'll join in. Got a couple of trips planned for March but nothing this month yet til I've seam sealed my new bivy bag, which I hope to do this week. I don't fancy a leaky bivy in this snow

Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
Yeah I was thinking about this the other day, will need to christen my new bike this month, so I'm in.
Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
Nothing really exciting to report.
Pics were all pants.
Pub for tea.
Lots of beer.
Walk about 30 minute to a hill fort.
Find a spot out of the wind.
Try and sleep.
Walk back to the car so I can go home and sleep on the sofa.
That's February ticked off.
I must remember to not invite Dan again, or at least sleep on another hill. Not only was he snoring but he was farting and sneezing! :x
I'm so surprised I didn't try to suffocate him.

Going to get my Feb outing in this weekend. Ride out to Thetford Forrest, Bivy and then meet up with the racers at the final winter race.

I shall be getting my (just in time) Feb bivvy in this weekend ... anyone else apart from Mr plumz and myself? The weather actually looks promising given what we've had the last couple of weeks

Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
Great weekend, you really wouldn't have known it was Feb ... no rain, some sun and no biting things. Took a gamble on a few stretches, which meant I discovered a couple of good bits of trail I didn't know existed :D

Just arrived before it went dark.

Greeted by this at dawn ... proper result.

Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
looks superb Stuart! Nothing quite so glamorous here but I'm keeping up with the challenge by the skin of my teeth...will be out tomorrow once the children are in bed. Probably won't get very far, but the benefit of living on a farm is an unlimited supply of bivy spots on my doorstep

Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
stuart,
nice spot!
i got back this afternoon and my february bivi was a humdinger!
40 miles out, almost zero sleep and just over 40 miles back (and over 9000ft/3000m of alt gain) - nearly killed me but it was well worth it!
here's some shots (sorry for the cropping as they're taken straight from the blog) of the trip.
on the 12 mile (2500ft/800m) climb on the way out:

at the top of the climb:

my spot:

the view from my spot:

i'm now absolutely exhausted but we were given half a deer by the local hunters today and so it's venison steaks for dinner!

Squeezed mine at the last minute as well.
Decided to do the Mary Towneley Loop around Calderdale, and set off a bit later than expected, but riding through the dark was rather enjoyable. Forgot to charge my camera so only this to share.

Did you leave the location off the images just to bait me?
