Bit of the white stuff around today so I went for a little ride through the woods and stopped for a cheeky brew.

It was just close to home in Croydon (Shirley Hills view point).

Despite the bad press, Croydon isn't too bad a place to ride. It's close enough to Surrey that there's good access to a network of bridleways linking home to the North Downs and then onto the South Downs. I'm lucky enough to have a few woods close by to play in but because of the huge population, there always seem to be dog walkers about.
I'm into road riding too so it's not bad for that and a 34 mile round trip to go up Box Hill should the urge take me.

I think there's something nice about being able to stop off and make a hot drink whenever you feel like it. Part of the reason why I got the MSR as it makes stopping so convenient. Certainly made for an interesting discussion with a couple of walkers yesterday.

Loads in London, went on the bike yesterday for a couple of hours, think I must have been able to freewheel for 15 seconds tops the whole ride.

Loved the snow

Very little freewheeling for me too. Think I only covered around 7 miles! Was like riding through sand. Nice to be out, away from it all though.

It was slow going. I glanced at my watch after almost an hour and done 7k! My speed averaged 10kph at the half way point. I retraced my wheel tracks and increased overall average to 10.8kph. 4 hours to ride about 44km!
