Tandem luggage?

Got the final geometry sorted now for our tandem.

Obviously there are 3 triangles to fill with frame bags.

What do you reckon for behind the pilots seat / under the stoker bars?

A harness of some sort (Revelate/Wildcat/Alpkit?) and a suitable length drybag. You'd have to watch you didn't catch your thighs on it and it wasn't so long as to interfere with the stokers grip.

Would there be space to have a large dry bag in a bar mounted carrier under the stoker bars? May need slightly modified straps as the angle they'd take to loop round the top tube would be different from where they loop under fork crowns.

Would a small wildcat seat pack fit on the stockers stem?

(I have one you can fiddle with)

Bigger pack for the stokers post.
bar bag and fuel bag for the pilot

Off the shelf frame bags for the 2 small triangles. Custom for the big one?

Thanks all, some good ideas there.

I guess it'll be a bit of trial and error as to what doesn't get in my way, and what doesn't get in his.

The only thing I know is that I'll struggle to get more than a mudguard under Tom's saddle. :)

Yep, only 190mm of seatpost showing.

It's also worth thinking about how you'll be manhandling it come any hike-a-bike sections (e,g, weight distribution, handholds)

Could you get a rack fitted on the back somewhere? That would give the option of panniers.

The frame bags will be made to come off quickly.

One idea is then to be able to clip/velcro them together to make a hands free carrying system.

Alternatively I may carry a cuben rucksac to throw them into.

There is a guy in the fb 'bike and bivi' community who does a lot of tandem touring with his wife... someone Pascoe? You could send him an ask!

Good find Andy, that looks like an excellent use of that space.
