Afternoon you two wheeled tramps.

I am looking to buy a new sleeping bag, preferably a half decent 3 season which compacts nice and small, that will hopefully keep me warm most of the year round in the UK.

Don't need any -10 bags or anything!

Question is do i go down or synthetic? Looking to spend around £150 preferably.

Cheers in advance guys.

Stay cool!

I could sit and write loads of stuff about sleeping bags but it would be long, deawnout and very dull, so much better to point you in the direction of the sleeping bag bargain of the year.

A Force10 Catalyst 400. 400g of high quality down should keep you warm to 0 without any trouble, it'll pack to nowt and weigh very little. I have the 250 version and they are really good bags ... all this for £140 reduced from £280. Oh and ignore all those folk who say you can't bivvy with a down bag, they're probably very clumsy

You can definitely Bivvi with a down bag, my step-old man uses 2 down bags, after seeing them thats why i wanted them. His pack down to litterally half the size of mine and are both a hell of alot warmer.

Any advice for using a Bivvi with a down bag?

Much appreciated, i shall empty the piggy bank.

Nothing specific, just treat it like you would your best friend and take and on multiday trips take any opportunity to give it an airing.
